Introduction to Breathable Film

Breathable film is made of polyethylene resin (PE) as a carrier, adding fine fillers (such as CaC03) and extruding it by casting cooling molding method. After longitudinal stretching, the film has a unique microporous structure. These special micropores with high density distribution can not only block the leakage of liquid, but also allow gas molecules such as water vapor to pass through. Under normal circumstances, the temperature of the film is 1.0-1.5°C lower than that of the non-breathable film, and the hand feel is soft and the adsorption force is strong.

At present, the main application fields of breathable plastic films include personal hygiene care products, medical protective products (such as medical mattresses, protective clothing, surgical gowns, surgical sheets, thermal compresses, medical pillowcases, etc.), clothing linings, and accessories for pharmaceutical packaging. Taking the personal hygiene care products industry as an example, the parts of the human body that these products come into contact with are easy to breed various bacteria due to moisture. Products made of chemical fiber textile materials have poor air permeability, so that the moisture released by the skin cannot be absorbed and evaporated, resulting in excessive temperature, which not only reduces the comfort, but also easily promotes bacterial reproduction and stimulates the skin. Therefore, the use of breathable materials to maximize the dryness and comfort of the skin surface has become one of the important trends in the development of today’s personal care products industry.

The breathable plastic film allows water vapor to pass through without allowing liquid water to pass through, and discharges the water vapor in the absorbent core layer of sanitary care products through the film to keep the skin contact layer very dry, making the skin surface drier and more effective. Inhibits the growth of bacteria and strengthens the protection of the skin. In addition, its silk-like softness is unmatched by other similar materials at present.

As the bottom film of health care products, breathable film has been widely used in Europe, America, Japan, South Korea, the Far East and my country’s Hong Kong and Taiwan regions. In other parts of the world, with the continuous improvement of people’s living standards in recent years, the production and use of breathable plastic films have increased year by year. Not only increased attention to the protection of maternal and infant health, but also further promoted the application of breathable plastic films.
