Machine Direction Orientation Unit (MDO Unit) – Wellson

*INTRODUCTION

Films being stretched by MDO have a wide range of applications such as breathable film for baby diaper and roofing membrane; stone paper or synthetic film; PETG shrink film, barrier film, CPP & CPE film for flexible packaging; as well as film for adhesive tapes, labels ect.

As early as the year of 2006, we have commenced the development of poly film stretching equipment, and achieved key technological breakthrough. Our MDO unit can be available for both horizontal and vertical stretching, and configured for several different types of functional films. We also offer the turn-key project of complete machine direction oriented film line.

Machine direction orientation unit is a machine modular where a polymer film is heated firstly to a target temperature and stretched in a certain ratio. It can be a stand-alone unit or inserted into a cast film line or a blowing film machine as their down-stream equipment.

The MDO unit has four manufacturing processes. Firstly, film enters the MDO unit and is pre-heated to a required temperature. Secondly, the film is stretched by two groups of rollers which run at different speed. After the film come out of orientation process, it comes to the annealing stage where the new properties of film are retained. Finally, film is cooled and get back to room temperature.

*Advantages and Features

1) MDO unit helps to improve the mechanical property of film products such as their tensile force and elongation.

2) MDO unit helps to improve the performance of transparency, glossiness or matting.

3) MDO unit helps to reduce the film thickness while the same film property is maintained. So it will reduce the cost.

4) Film stretched by MDO unit has much better water or air barrier performance than that without stretching.
